FINALLY STEPPING ON STAGE!
Well folks, here it is, the official FIRST performances I am doing as a Vancouver Theatre Sports League performer! This Saturday, I’ll be doing all 3 performances:
THE SECOND SADEST THING IN THE WORLD
The second saddest thing in the whole world is watching Otis, the friendly 10 month old white dog (a Dogo/Bulldog cross) limp around the house in his cast all doped up on morphine. It’s so sad to see the once energetic maniacally active dog be so lethargic and depressed.
His ACL surgery is done, but the exceptionally long road to recovery for him (until xmas) will be torture because he’s not allowed to do any physical activity. At least with a kid you can explain why they can’t play, but a dog just doesn’t understand… It’s so hard to see. I hope Tanja and Erik have the nerves of steel it’s going to take to keep him at bay.
And now it’s time for another one sentence review of a movie (usually followed by a ranting, tangential paragraph)
THE PRESTIGE
This film was visually stunning (the cinematography and the design were fantastic), yet the plot of the film was flawed and one of the major themes was contradicted to make a convenient plot point that lead to a cool-in-concept, but overdrawn and wordy death scene.
I was really excited for this film and was entertained but disappointed.
SCARY SCIENCE:
Call me paranoid, but the scientists studying the honey bee genome and how the honey bee’s genetic code can dictate it’s social behavior as on a slippery slope.
find the article here (it's about bees)
Don’t they realize the results of their work could be applied to human beings in embryonic development? Isn’t that what A BRAVE NEW WORLD was all about? It’s a good thing I half read that book in grade 11!
And that’s all I have to offer at this point. I’m pretty busy at work lately, which is good and also means I won’t have a lot of time to write these crazy things all the time, which isn’t good. Whatever.
