Good food, good company and a decent film.
Last night I called Tanja and Eric to see what they were doing for supper – nothing – so I brought over some sweet fettuccini and some sun dried tomato pesto and we cooked. It was great! We had roasted zucchini, garlic toast, asparagus and the pasta – which we made perfectly al dente. It was amazing and delicious – I was perfectly sated after.
Then I got a call from Alistair – he needed to get out of the house as he spent the whole day there. So we went downtown to the Paramount – there was nothing good playing – so we ran to the Granville – there was nothing playing – then we called Jayden to see if it was worth running to tinsletown – it was! So we trucked it down as quickly as possible.
And now, another 1 sentence review:
FEARLESS
Apparently Jet Li's final martial arts epic (whatever that means), FEARLESS sure wasn't fearless in it's rather flaccid delivery, which was a disservice to the exciting martial arts action that peppered the film with excellence.
Maybe Jet Li is right – he doesn't need to do another martial arts epic – maybe non of us need another one. The trailer for CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER played before the film and it looked beautiful, but it almost seems like that stunning cinematography and ballet like action has become a tiresome cliché now – too bad, because it was poignant and innovative when it was first employed in main stream Chinese films.
My mom arrived today and is waiting for me to pop by the hotel to take her out for supper. I am excited to see her because it's been so long (well, a month, but I miss her – What? Can't a guy miss his mom you jerks?). And, she's going to be able to see the show I'm in this weekend. Yay!
Now all I need is for Dad to com out and visit – we could go fishing for salmon on the open ocean – that would be pretty sweet!
